Open Access

Open Access (OA) is a strategy of open publication of results of scientific research, which ensures their maximal transparency. Through OA anyone interested can access the results of science and research, which is beneficial not only for the scientists, but for the whole society.

In the future, all the scientific publications should be publicly accessible. Currently we are in the period of transformation. CzechELib will, like other licensing centres, make a maximum effort to negotiate a transition to Golden OA with the publishers. Contracts with the publishers will include a provision binding them to further negotiate a switch to OA.

Open access is a publication model, an alternative to traditional dissemination of scientific knowledge through toll-access scientific journals. Its principle is an unlimited online access to scientific information provided by self archiving of articles in open repositories or publishing in open journals.
