Publication types: all articles in the ACM Digital Library designated as “research articles” by the ACM at the time of publication. This includes research articles, review articles, conference papers, proceedings papers, and other article types for which the ACM would require payment of an APC in the absence of a transformative agreement.

Duration of agreement: 1. 1. 2026 - 31. 12. 2028 - The public procurement process is still ongoing (the license agreement has not yet been signed).

How does an author publish an Open Access article?

When submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author must use their institutional email address.

Upon acceptance of the article, the author receives a link to the eRights system, where they confirm the authors’ details and proceeds to the article license selection:

  • The system should automatically recognise the author’s eligibility for free Gold Open Access publishing and offer this option.
  •  For OA publishing, it is necessary to choose the “Institutionally Paid Open Access” (this option indicates that all costs are covered under the transformative agreement and no additional costs are incurred). We recommend selecting a CC BY license (the default option).
